She is also a Lecturer in the School of Pure and Applied Sciences, Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Sciences at Machakos University. Dr. Nyarige completed her PhD (Mathematical Statistics) from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. Prior to this, she had attained an MSc (Applied Statistics) degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Her undergraduate degree was BSc (Mathematics and Computer Science) from JKUAT. Her research interests lie in the areas of Functional data and in particular, Functional time series, The Bootstrap and Change point analysis, ranging from their theoretical to their practical aspects. She has worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics which is a research institute that carries out innovative research to help companies optimize their products. Here, she worked on different research projects that involved statistical modelling for optimization. She has also worked at the University of Kaiserslautern as part of a project on imaging of Polar ice in relation to climate change. In her spare time, she mentors students (especially girls) as part of giving back to society. Her aim is to inspire other young girls to follow in her footsteps and join Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related careers, and to instil in them, that through hard work and dedication, all this is possible.
